Publishing Companies

We provide typing and proof-reading services to various publishing companies, two based in the South of England, the other in West Yorkshire. We receive work in various forms, either handwritten manuscripts to be typed from scratch, or documents on CD to be proof-read and formatted. Each publishing company has a specific style to be followed. We arrange collection and delivery of the work (usually by courier), always meeting their deadlines (which are usually quite tight), whether for a 20-page pamphlet or a 360-page book.

The Clerk's Bible, Holmfirth

We provide advice and assistance through our team of qualified local council clerks, to other town and parish clerks, including telephone answering, locum clerk provision, audio transcription (Council meetings and/or Committee meetings) and book-keeping support.  This support is invaluable to clerks who work on their own, particularly if  they work from home as opposed to a formal council office, or if they need to take time off as holiday or for sickness/personal reasons.  

Counselling Company, Wakefield

With a central office in Wakefield and numerous counsellors working for them, mostly from their own homes or other doctors' surgeries (throughout Yorkshire), this company provides counselling services to many large companies including utility and recovery services, e.g. Fire Service. Two phone lines are diverted to us on a regular, daily basis. The first one is their office line, where we answer calls when there is no-one in their main office or they are on the phone. Calls are diverted to us instead of going to an answering machine or ringing out engaged. All calls are answered within three rings, always with a smile and a clear voice. We deal with general office enquiries and appointments, pass all messages on by e-mail immediately upon receipt, so that whoever is in the office is kept fully up-to-date with what calls we have taken on their behalf.

Their second line is a 'help line', the number of which is provided to one of their own clients for emergency counselling services. Help line messages are passed on immediately, to the appropriate counsellor on 'rota' for that particular day. This is an 8am to 8pm daily service, whereas calls on the client's office line are mainly during office hours, e.g. 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Off-road Driving Instructors, Huddersfield

This client is based in the same building as us, but they have clients nationwide. Their phone line is on permanent divert to us, to answer all their calls on a daily basis. We 'patch' or put through most calls to the training co-ordinator or instructors whether in the office or out on site, but if they are unavailable or on a course and do not want to be interrupted, we receive and process enquiries ourselves, sending out information packs as required.

We also process orders for gift vouchers or training course bookings and prepare course material, e.g. certificates, customer service questionnaires and techniques guides, ready for the instructors prior to each course. We hold the company's 'diary' giving details of all courses and multi-activity events (incorporating off-road driving, quad biking and clay pigeon shooting), and liaise with the trainees (individuals or corporate clients) to ensure a smooth-running, well planned event.

Chartered Surveyor, Wakefield

This client has been in practice as a Chartered Surveyor, Valuer, Building Engineer and Building Surveyor for almost 40 years, the last six of which we have provided him with typing and office support. He dictates his reports, letters and invoices etc. for transcription by us. Once we have typed the first draft, he will update the reports with technical measurements and details, before they are sent to his own clients, spiral-bound to give a professional appearance. We also provide telephone answering support when he is out of his office on business or on holiday. In the latter case, we also then provide an 'office sitting' facility, to check his office is secure, open mail, process any correspondence deemed urgent, bank cheques, send out receipts for all cheques received, and we check/process faxes/e-mails on his behalf.
